I guess sketch really isn't the right word these day :/ I'm practicing some background elements. hopefully I'll be able to do that bg tutorial I always wannad to do
A rather sparce sketchdump. I have a tonne of sketches but... they've all gone missing o.oa. Still.. pretty colours 8D

Princess Mononoke backgrounds are so very awesome. Before I ever saw anything by studio ghibli I saw an pic of the forest with the giant trees and the water and I was just like "this is AWESOME." I think thats what made me strive to get better at the backgrounds rather than focusing too much on the character.

I might have to try that. 'starting to enjoy painting on a big scale alot recently. The black would look a little empty though, maybe I'll scrawl some writing across it |D

Or you could make it a really dark indigo blue with blacker bits...I dunno, not /bits/ exactly, but you could create a really interesting texture. I personally feel that words across black spaces are overdone, but don't let that stop you!

pfffttt art teacher in general hate any way of drawing people thats not specifically like they would draw them. My art teachers like that plz.

Yes the problem with art is that difference of opinion >|. I did learn to draw stuff ' properly' first (or atleast to the best of my ability), I just find anime more aesthetically pleasing
Lots of sugar I'm sure. Though if you think about it, its not half as crazy trippy as the anime of today. I suppose they're also on e-numbers now.
