Designed in 1942 as a cheaper alternate to the Panzer IV medium tank, the Mittlere Kampfrstung or "Me.Kpfg" was a tank of too little too late. Development for the tank started back in 1934, and back than the tank was armed with a 3.7mm gun with the option of up-gunning to a 50mm gun later. It's suspension was also heavily inspired by the Panzer 1 as to create a larger sense of uniformity among the German Armor, though this would later hinder the tank's ability of being up-armored. A prototype was built in 1936, and trials were completed in 1938, but by this time pint the Panzer IV was already accepted into service. With no hope of winning the Panzer IV contract the designers began redeveloping the tank into the cheaper alternate to the Panzer IV, suppose to be issued to lower risk units, this too was in vein. In 1942 when the Me.Kpfg was accepted all production lines were being taken up by the Panzer III, Panzer IV, and newer tanks such as the Panzer V "Panther", and Panzer VI "Tiger". By 1943 only 150 were built, and deployed. Units issued this tank only had bad things to say about the deign. It was cramped, the engine was just a mess, and there was no were to sleep on the damn thing! By 1944 the designers completed work on a more improved variant of the Me.Kpfg called the "Me.Kpfg Ausf J" unlike the former variant, the Me.Kpfg Ausf J was an actual sound design, and the Me.Kpfg Ausf J/II was only better getting rid of the current road wheels in favor of over lapping road wheels, but by this time point in late 1944 there was once gain no room on the production line for the tank. By the war's end only 670 Me.Kpfg were ever built with few ever seeing any real combat, and even the ones that did fairing very poorly.

Originally was suppose to be an historical tank, but I screwed up, so I re-imagined it into this instead of wasting an hour's work.

It is interesting though the E50 would make a cheaper and more efficient tank having more frontal armor
