The Mrk.II-class Landship was the first attempt at improving and replacing the Mrk.I-class Landship . While most of the components were the same, with the Mrk.II-class using the same track system, the tank added an additional 76.2mm gun into a fully rotating turret along with a new hull layout. This was done to boost the tank's anti-tank, and anti-fortification capabilities. However, the tank lacked weaponry for anti-infantry duties relying on accompany tanks, and infantry to protect it from enemy infantry. Further more, the additional 3 inch gun didn't add to the tank's AT performance as much as hoped, with it only adding to the tank's weight and cost. This resulted in the tank being limited as a failure with only a few hundred models being built before production was totally stopped.
