Lately I got some messages saying; "How can you call yourself an artist, if you even can't make original work?" kinda... true -.- I never like how my OC's turns out to look like, so I always "copy pictures" (without tracing).. well this kinda made me feel bad. So I wanted to try and make an original piece, so yeah. I tried to think out something to draw. But I couldn't think of anything, and I was listening to this song called "Angel with a Shotgun" by the Cab. And then I got an idea! and always when I listen to this song I see like this picture in my head. Why not draw a character of the music? And I did! ^^ This is how it turned out to look like!~Expression: dying

this is really great! the colours are so vibrant
also i really feel for you, how rude some people are - as Mark Crilley says, there is absolutely no shame in using a reference picture. And half the skill is being able to accurately reproduce the picture that you are looking at - that's exactly how drawing still life works! there are many different types of art and who is any one else to tell you that you are not an artist.
i think you are a great artist, whether you are doing original work or not! ^_^

If you mean this drawing, then I didn't use color pencils, I used ProMarkers c: but when I use color pencils, I use the Cretacolor Karmina pencils

I've been going through the same thing you discribe below the picture. Mostly drawing what others have drawn already. No originality there. And its always a bit hard for me to get ideas and make compositions of my own.
But the idea of taking influence, ideas and feelings out of other art forms is a good idea.
I think your work is great and I also think that before you can create something truly of your own you have to study other' art and learn from them. Its the same in music. One rarely hears about composers who have never played anything else in their life.

In this drawing I used some markers called "Promarker" they are a little bit cheaper then Copic markers!

I like this a lot! The colouring style and lineart style is very nice! I think this lineart and colouring style fits very very well together. Would love to see more in it!
