Unidentified flowering object. Must be some variety of clematis, but I don't recognize it. It does have a bit of other-worldliness about it.Related content

It is. At some point I think I knew that, but I hadn't seen one in a long time. It was on top a retaining wall in someone's yard, so this was the only angle available (and I was standing on my toes).

Passion flower. My husband has once-a-month blood testing, so I take the camera and walk around the hospital neighborhood. Something different every month. This was atop a retaining wall in someone's yard, so my choice of angle was limited. Not a great photograph, but the flower is so interesting that it's becoming one of my all-time most favorited shots.

This is the Passiflora, or Passion flower, Passion vine etc.

Thanks. Several kind people have given me links on this very interesting flower. I was taking a walk around a hospital waiting for my husband and saw this in someone's yard. It was growing on top of a retaining wall, and this was the only angle I could get (standing on my toes). I would have loved to shoot it looking down.
