#98 / Translucent“Don’t cover your face. I want to see you.” Phineas grabbed Harrison’s wrists and pulled his hands down. “You’re so lovely like this.”
“I look dreadful.”
“Well, you’re wrong.”
Phineas chuckled and asked, “When have you ever known me to be wrong, Harry?”
“Never.”
“It’s just a side-effect of being pregnant. Humans react in so many ways to carrying a mythic’s child.”
“Do all parents of half-angels get such translucent tissue?” Harrison spread his fingers to show off how one could see the bones and veins through the flesh. “I do quite look like a creature from a horror film.”
Phineas looked him over and smiled. “I’ve never seen anyone quite this transparent. Maybe because you’re already so pale?” Harrison scoffed. “I know you don’t agree, but you’re the palest person I’ve met who wasn’t albino. And there’s not a single spot on your skin! No freckles or beauty marks-”
“I know, I know. My complexion makes me look bloody ill. When will I look normal again?”
“Could be in a few hours, could be a few hours after the baby’s born.” Harrison’s disappointed expression made him laugh. Not impressed, Harrison huffed and turned his face. Phineas kissed his cheek, putting a hand on his swollen belly and rubbing it in slow circles. “Relax, my dear. No one at the station will think you look frightening.”

“Shut up, Detective. And since when have we been on a first name or nickname basis?”
“Sorry, Seril. Geez. Finn, is he this testy at home too?”
“Nope!”
