young Chester and his older brother, Charlie! Chester was a pretty miserable kid after his powers manifested when he was nine. Because of how dangerous it was and how he couldn't control it, his parents decided to tape his eyes shut for much of his life until he received his goggles at 18 from a villain who used to work with his dad. He comes to the conclusion at age ten after being isolated from everything and slowly losing his eyesight that his family thinks he's a burden.
Charlie got hearing aids (like me lmao.) after an accident where Chester's lasers hit something that exploded next to him, damaging his hearing. He was usually left in charge of looking after Chester, since their father was recovering from an accident that forced him to retire from villainy, and their mother was busy looking after their younger siblings who Chester wasn't really allowed near.
