Description
A vampire in a RIVER full of blood. That can't be good.
Penelope here has just discovered a new ecosystem living at the bottom of a chasm (AKA fell into the chasm with Leopold), in the uncharted Skull Island. A putrid one at that.
Strange plants were all around her. In a guide book, these were "Haemovores", plants that get their nutrients from carcasses and spilled blood.
The shrub-like Tendriculos. The flowering Triffids, giving off a scent to lure in large bugs or small flying creatures. The tall-standing Night Twists, which disorient a prey item by reflecting soul wavelengths off their bark. The small, sprouting Dread Blossoms, which can grow directly on a dead animal, or blood soaked soil. And a few species of flytrap.
True. She might have drank some to prevent a descent into madness. It WAS perfectly good blood anyway. But it was still sickening to think that some creatures in this world LIVE like this.
Not yet knowing about the giants that walk above the chasm.
