The start of a new series focused on renders and testing in Unreal 5.3. I have finished a first iteration of a control rig and tested small tweaks to a static pose using it. I still have a bit of work to do with it, but as a first pass I am happy with the results. The largest of my issues are more around how the auto-key registers changes, as this rig has several controls that are shown/hidden on a switch, and the driven controls don't trigger a key update. Not the end of the world, just something to work around for now.

This render is slightly light grades, just to pop the highlights and shadows a bit more. I also added a slight focus blur, although I plan to eventually test that in render (alongside other post-process effects).

I have no current strategy with this series outside of a general testing of how to incorporate poses and movement in the sequencer and how to best work the camera around that. I would love to work towards an actual animation set, but for now I will focus on simple still shots. Similarly I am using a base unmodified Victoria. Currently her textures are fairly substantially reduced with the internal max texture size settings. I want to test some closeups so that I can proof render fidelity.

This set is from Epic's Infinity Blade assets. I wanted a prebuilt environment I didn't need to fiddle much with so I could focus on the figure and camera work.

As an aside, warm up frames + frame render came to a total of ~5 min, give or take.
