Description
Something different again - different face type and different style for a challenge. One of my heaviest influences is manhua (Hong Kong style comics) especially Storm Riders because of the semi-realism and detailing. Mine has no where near their finesse and a lot of it is still pretty raw, but I think I'll leave it at that for now because I wanted to create something brooding to reflect perhaps Sagat's change of heart when he was in Shadaloo. I do find him to be an interesting character though this is the first time I've drawn him as a human and not as an anthro tiger...Related content

This reminds me of Sin City, when Marv was caught in the rain ( i.imgur.com/bvYe1.png )--have you read any of those comics? That picture in particular is one of my favorite panels in anything, ever.
The minimalitic look here really works! It makes the blood on his body stand out when it could have easily been overwhelmed, and puts us through the same thought process that he seems to be going through--'Why is it here? How many more times will I have to wrap my hands? Should I let it happen again?' This is really, really great '~'

I haven't seen those comics but I've heard good things bout them - should check them out! I was similarly inspired by a few panels in those manhua
Yeah I really wanted to draw Sagat not in a way he's used to being seen as, but perhaps in a transformation phase coz I think like Vega, he's got a lot of potential as a character!

He really does. It sucks because they don't seem to want to go too deep into his backstory, but, like, DAMNIT, I wanna know how baby Sagat became teen Sagat and then fudging monster Sagat. And...why Tigers? Why does he wear an eye patch (he had it on when he had the big-bad fight with Ryu, didn't he?) Who taught him? Who in the fucking hell is running his country while he's off fighting all these tournaments?!! So many questions Capcom.
Sin City really is good. I won't say I'm gaga-eyed over them like I am with Sandman and Watchmen and stuff, but it's really good. The art is fabulous.

Yeah goes for a lot of characters pretty much - cept Ryu... he seems to have a lot more complete backstory. I think I saw a bit for Sagat in the udon comics and in SFII V but they're not canonical... still it's better than nothing! I'd like to know more bout Bison's origins too!
