Really nice job! The palette makes me think of how he'd look if he were in Brawl.

Good work, honestly.

But imo, you should have made his color brighter so it will look more like in Super Smash Bros.

Glad you like it. It is slightly tweaked from my usual blues. The shininess of the metal demanded I use something a bit different.Β The great thing about characters like this is how easy it is to keep your color count low.

I want to try getting bolder with color choice though. Some pixel artists get away with crazy colors that still somehow work.

I actually like your colors a lot more than the actual Mega Man's lol I dunno if this makes sense, but it somehow adds a little extra depth to all your shapes.

I feel for ya too man DX I actually just recently embarked on a bold palette quest earlier this week and spent 2 whole days making and tweaking palettes/pulling out my hair and screaming at pixels/crying and begging PixelJoint and DA to help me form a palette for the love of all that was good and holy. All in all though, valuable experience LOL (The piece isn't done yet, I have to actually work on the details of piece itself now that I have the palette chosen)

Laying down the base shades and highlights in grayscale is such a big help though, lets you focus on the palette and palette alone when the time comes to chose colors. I just blobbed the colors on to get the basic forms and shapes and shadows i wanted, didn't clean the lines or add details, but I should have. Next time I'll do everything but AA. The blotchiness of everything made it hard to see how the colors interacted if that made sense.
Β *rambleramble* jeez I'm a chatty katty today trololol. Anyway, you have an excellent eye for colors, I can spot your pieces a mile away just by the colors and the way you use them so I don't doubt for a second that you'll come up with a stellar crazy palette man

I know all about pixel frustrations, though with markedly less hair pulling. I struggle with clothing folds and often times shiny surfaces never seem to quite fall into place for me. Mega Man's legs gave me a lot of trouble and truth be told I'm still not totally satisfied. But sometimes it's just time to move on. I assume you're referring to that Akuma picture? I've been quietly watching that come along.

I've heard of that grayscale first technique. It seems like it might be a good idea and I've considered trying it.

And thank you. Others have commented on my colors too; I'm not sure what people are seeing but I'm glad they're seeing it.
