It's now canon in Old SchoolTale's AU that instead of turning to dust when defeated they turn into piles of glitched coded mess that'd then fade away like dust.

So instead of Pac-Man bleeding like Sans when he's hit,the half of him that was struck gets turned into a pile of coded mess trying to hold him up together just like maze 256 in his original game where it tried to piece all of it together but did it wrong causing it to be an broken unbeatable mess of a level.
