U.N. and Alliance forces have engaged the aliens in the outskirts of the Solar System. U.N. Intelligence stated that is was "highly likely" that the aliens, known as the Solinoids, had starfighters that could transform into large mecha. That has now been confirmed.

What U.N intelligence has not revealed is that the Saturn Interdiction was not humanity's first contact with the Solinoids. A scout ship crashed on earth centuries ago in Roswell, New Mexico, USA. A top secret team of American scientists have been reverse engineering Solinoid tech ever since. It was Solinoid tech that led to the creation of every major technological wonder since the 1950's. However, transformable mecha was a concept that humanity could not unlock, until the Saturn Interdiction. The defeated Solinoid Battle cruiser was quickly salvaged and sent back to the team of scientist working on Mecha Tech. The alien computers and a salvaged fighter provided the final key to unlocking the tech. By the time Earth, Mars, and Ceres signed the Alliance Accords. A working prototype was ready. At this time, the alliance only has a handful of these mecha fighters and only the most elite pilots fly them.
