Description With my recent discovery of Photoshop's smudge tool, I've come to a sort of artistic epiphany.

I'd like to thank David Tennant for teaching me how to paint. Without my obsession with his energetic character of the Tenth Doctor, I don't know when I would've found the compulsion to attempt what this started as.

No tracing, seven color-picked colors from the source image. It took something like 18hrs... but I learned loads.

For those of you Doctor Who fans, "Never Tell" is from when the Doctor is telling Donna's parents that they can never tell her what she's done or where she's traveled, even though for just one moment, she was the most important person in the Universe.

I'd like to also thank my friend Daniel for his never-ending support for all my creative endeavors over the past couple years.

He is not easy, but as others have said, fun due to his expressiveness. It means a lot to me to hear someone say I draw him in particular so well!

Yes, I've had several instances showing it to people who just kinda were like, "Okay..." I'd then say, "I painted that." "What?!" or "No way!" would then follow. Thank you!

Wow, awesome! Now I want to experiment with the smudge tool.

Though, technically, Donna was the most important woman in the Universe, seeing as how she saved the entire blasted thing!

You are SO right. I edited my comments... I can't believe I missed it! He DID say "Universe", not "Earth".

This is excellent, even more so given what you've learnt from making the piece. I particularly like the reference you used, especially given the story behind it - one of the most poignant moments of New Who if you ask me.

Oh & *yay* for the smudge tool

Yes, I didn't pick it for the moment, though, if I must be honest! I was frustrated with my inability to create his likeness with what I knew, so I decided to do just a study of one part, which ended up being his mouth. I found a picture of an expression that fit what I wanted and cropped it down, and when I made the discovery, I thought... hm, well I can't just leave it there, I have to finish the whole picture! It wasn't what I would have picked in whole, but at least it wasn't some odd half-blinking screenshot.

After finishing, though, I was glad I could put it to an important moment. Probably not the best thing to admit!
