I love the picture! But why is it burning ascent engines for re-entry?

Simply change the background photo of the Earth and put the Sky vewed from the surface (just as viewed from a man standing on the surface and pointing skyward), in the few seconds after take-off.

I didn't know the shuttle used the SSB for re-entry...and kept that massive fuel tank past the 9 minute mark after launch, but it's still a good pic

As nerdy as I am, I must comment saying that the solid rocket boosters should've jettisoned if it's that high, along with the external fuel tank. It also is traveling the wrong direction seeing it still has all the other equipment attached to it. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful wallpaper, and I would be more than delighted to use it as my computer's background.

Just a technical note: the rocket booster attached to the belly of the shuttle is only used during takeoff, then jettisoned upon entering the upper atmosphere. By the time the shuttle reaches the altitude depicted in you photo, it will have no external fuel tanks still attached, and be using its primary engines. And, it would probably be facing the other way. But then again, I'm just a picky guy. This will be my wallpaper for the week.
