Description In 1821, Mexico became independent from Spain after a process that meant 10 continuous years of war.
The Mexican Empire was established.
However, the economic crisis that led to the war of independence brought great discontent in the population. Added to the first Masonic elites that were beginning to be founded in Mexico, the stability of the Empire was crumbling.
When Emperor Iturbide discovered a conspiracy, he dissolved the Congress, which caused tensions that led to the discontent of the Mexican political class. Shortly after, Santa Anna proclaimed the Republic; Iturbide reinstated Congress and abdicated before it.
However, Santa Anna rushes the implementation of "The 7 Laws" establishing a Centralist Republic that would generate great discontent in the rest of the nation's entities.
Zacatecas would be the first state to declare itself independent in 1823, followed by Guadalajara and more states.
Finally, what for a very short time was Mexico, ended up divided into numerous republics that would continue on their way, each one on their own.
Thus, in 1823 the Republic of Guadalajara would be born, a relatively stable State that would only present conflicts at the beginning of its years of independent life between the establishment of a Centralist or Federal Republic. With the victory of the Federalists, the name of Xalisco would be approved for the nation.
By 1878, after minimal participation in the "Mexican Reform Wars" and after a slow process of Industrialization, the Republic of Xalisco would present a coup d'état by pro-Prussian conspirators that would transform the country into a Monarchy allied to the German Empire with a German King.
Thus, the name of the nation changed to "Kingdom of Nueva Galicia" in memory of the old kingdom during the viceroyalty era.
The German mandate was characterized by an accelerated process of industrialization and great cultural export to the world.
By 1914, with the death of the German king and the outbreak of the First World War in Europe, a military-led regency was established that led to a return to democracy in 1916, establishing the current Republic of Xalisco.
The current nation is characterized by the Charrería, the Mariachi, the Tequila and the German influence in the "Mexican" culture.
