Often Ruedi is one of my favorite subjects for that grin he has on his face and those stunning blue eyes. This is one of those photos where the introduction of gold into his eyes shows them to be more greenish than blue or yellow. This is a perfect portrait to display his general outlook on his life--that happy go lucky sort of look that shows he's just a wolf happy to get treats and attention.

Wolves have exceptional hearing, meaning that even while asleep us noisy humans would have a very difficult time sneaking up on them. They have excellent vision, even at night, thwarting Indian hunters who would try to make deadfall traps that they could see. And of course they have a keen sense of smell that is well known among canines.
