Scruffy never expected or really wanted to be a parent, especially since her mate, Spotty, is a female. In her days as a part of the outsider pride, she was attacked by a male lion, not giving her a choice in the matter. Spotty was always supportive to Scruffy, vowing to give their cub a better life then they had, but Scruffy was terrified, she never has strong parental figures and was scared of failing her cub. So use to being one of Zira's most reliable soldiers she hid her feelings well, she didn't want Spotty to know how worried she was. When she has her cub Zweni, Dotty, the aunt of Zweni and Kiara were supportive figures, telling her that it's okay not to know how to do everything at first.

Dotty's real name is Doa (meaning dot lol)
Spotty's real name is Dawati (meaning speck)
Scruffy's real name is Giza (meaning dark)
Zweni means "in the world", symbolizing the happier world they live in
