I love this movie, but I can't believe the disney logic: when they draw a nerd guy they create to vector (despicable me), but when they draw a nerd girl they make a super sexy woman with glasses and ponytail. the nerd boy can be a real superfreak, but the girls must be MANDATORY sexy, fashion and with a beautiful face? just unbelievable.

Well, firstly, neither of these were Disney movies. x'D Despicable Me was Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was from Sony Animation. Unless you meant the logic they used is similar to what Disney would do? I guess I could sort of agree with that argument but attractiveness is unfortunately what most of the world concerns themselves with soooo in order to be successful companies like Disney have to cater to that to some degree.

And secondly that was part of the message in this movie. Sam changed herself by making herself into what is stereo-typically expected out of a "T.V. weather girl": Pretty, perky, and fashionable. She did that because she thought it was the only way she could get a chance at her dream job. BUT she changed back after Flint's encouragement gave her the confidence to believe that she could do what she loves AND be herself.Β

Sure, they could have designed her character to be more plain looking but I think doing it the way they did highlights how judgmental and preoccupied with looks the media is in general. To even be an intern she had to meet a criteria. It makes it more of a statement when she chooses to go against that "perfect, pretty" image people expect.Β
