You are correct on him being belgium. It's just that most Belgians find him offensive because he speaks French is very "cocky" and we of our own have at least three far more brilliant fictive detectives that I can coun't of the top of my head. For example : detective Van Zwam , Tintin , Commisaris Moordenaar , Witse , and many others. Β Β
