On Labor Day weekend, the North Carolina Transportation Museum hosted several events with N&W #611. Visitors could buy tickets to ride in either the caboose or 611's cab as the engine travelled back and forth down a section of the line on the museum's property. Another available option (for a higher price) visitors could drive 611 (under the supervision of the engineer) or be the fireman for a single trip.

I, myself, went with the the cab ride; I was amazed at how high up the crew was whenever they were in the engine's cab.
