It always struck me as fricking adorable, the way Simon starts out half a head shorter than Nia and ends up a full head taller than her. There's something really visually appealing about comparing them at both ages.Knowing how enthusiastic and affectionate Nia can be, I can't help imagining her cheering him on about the outgrowing process, rather than being pouty about it...
...and so this image was born.
(Yes, their costumes and her hair length are slightly "inaccurate"--this is meant to be taking place sometime during the timeskip, so I got juuust a little creative with their outfits.)
Ten points if you can guess why this unassuming little picture is a monumental step forward in my quest for epic digital-drawing skills.

Thank you! It's definitely a charm-point of the relationship. (Come to think of it, I ship a lot of couples where the girl was taller either in adolescence or forever...Edward/Winry, Maka Albarn/Soul Eater...)

Nia's sort of a floaty-brained moonchild, especially as a kid, but she's endlessly effervescent and friendly and good-hearted and sweet, and very devoted to her shy, hapless dorkboy.
