Wow! I'm impressed! You captured a moment here very well. You can see the saddened look in her face and can see the anger welling up within her.
The eyes came out awesome...in fact I have a hard time taking MY eyes away from hers. The lips also came out great. Her hair is perfect. She's beautiful.
Two thumbs up here. And, oh yeah, this is going into my favorites for sure.

Thank you so much! I was trying hard to push the emotion, so I'm really glad you can see it here.
Wow, you've said some really lovely things, I really appreciate it. Jolie was a beautiful model to work from.

Now THAT's hot. I just love that look.
Well, I am glad that you liked my comment. I just say what I see. And yeah, I agree, Jolie did a wonderful job at portraying Maleficent. Even though the movie did have some minor issues, she still carried the role very well right to the end.
BTW, I do have a fan-fic posted on my page in case you want to read it.
Rave.

Your very welcome! I couldn't help myself. You captured Jolie so well, which is a hard thing to do. You've made her seem so...ALIVE. ^_^

Awww thank you. I really did try to make it look like her despite the horns and cheekbones and lighting.

You did a really nice job with this! The shading and anatomy are very well done, and the color palette is nice and somber, I feel like you've captured it all very well. I also love the color of the eyes. One thing I would say is something about the composition and/or cropping sort of seems to cut off too much of her. It kind of draws the eye away from Maleficent I feel

Thank you so much! Looking back, I agree with you, the composition is definitely off. I felt when painting it that there was something wrong... I couldn't put my finger on it but you've got it, so thank you very much.

Je vois que vous êtes un orateur français. Malheureusement mon français n'est pas super. Mais, merci pour les paroles aimables.

I don't know much about digital painting but I'm studying on my own, maybe I'll say something stupid and if I do, correct me please, but here we go:
I learned the concept of three values, using three values you can create contrast by using the lighter value on the area the viewer should look at first. The darker should be used around the lighter to create contrast and the middle value should be used on the lighter spots without taking the attention from the focus of the painting.
I think you're doing great, but if you play a little bit more with the contrast your paintings will get even better!

Nothing wrong with studying on your own, I'm completely self taught digitally, though I am studying fine art in college so some of the principles are the same, it's just the techniques which differ.
Using the three value method (not sure of its proper name) is something I do try to consider. But I think you're right that the background of this needs to be darker to push Maleficent's face into the foreground more.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment though, it's really kind of you to do so, I appreciate it and I'm going to take the advice to heart.
Thanks again!
