Day 9: Space

"When man first took to the stars in the mid 22nd century the first intelligent race he encountered was the Moh-Jhii, a race of green-skinned humanoids with pointy ears, predominately silver hair and purple eyes, a pair of short antennae-like protrusions from their foreheads, black canine/feline like noses, four pairs of canines, four-fingered hands, long rabbit-like feet, short little tails and the females of the species sporting a third breast. Fortunately the Moh-Jhii were a friendly race and have been for centuries since mankind's most steadfast ally in the galaxy. One on the many gifts the Moh-Jhii gave to their newfound allies was a sabre-like sword carried by commanding officers, nobility, royalty and members of the starship navy. While mostly relegated to ceremonial purposes these plasma-bladed sabres are still formidable melee weapons in their own right and come with a variety of mods to improve performance ranging from actual metal blades to a basket hilt-style energy shield to better protect the hand to tasers and spikes on the knuckle guard to guns built into the hilts. The standard version has a telescopic blade emitter that lets the owner adjust the length of the blade to suit their needs. The blade itself is at least 4 times hotter than a cutting torch making them particularly effective against organic opponents, some mechanical threats and barriers and obstacles. The blade emitter itself is sturdy enough that it can be used as a baton and has a sharpened point for thrusting like an improvised rapier should the weapon lose its plasma blade for any reason. It's for these reasons that these swords are still standard issue for the Moh-Jhii's starship navy and is often the weapon of choice when boarding enemy starships."
