You need to make a new layer in photoshop.
In this layer you make a circle and copy a part of the background.
Then make another smaller circle inside the first circle and inverse the selection.
After that adjust the colours so that the rim is darker then the rest.
Then it's just playing with colours, dodging and burning and some extra filters until you're happy with the end result
