Description it's a little known fact about goats that they are actually sort of...well...reverse butterflies.
a goat is actually born with very fine vestigial wings, and must build a coccoon in which to undergo metamorphasis. they remain inside the pupa for three weeks, then emerge, totally goatful and having lost the wings of the larval form.
this picture shows the goat weaving the coccoon.

a commission - a portrait of a rather lovely lamancha goat called "mysterious ways"

photoshop 6 and a wacom. full view really a must on this one, or you won't see the moss and shite

That's kinda sad - what does the goat get in exchange for its wings?

for gorgeousness.

Awwww....this is adorable! But then, I dig goats. They've got weird and wonderful eyes.....and big fat bellies. Like my husband, come to think of it...hmmm!

Lovely. Great idea (was it yours?). I like those ferns. Did you use a brush for them?
I used to have pet goats. They'd chase us :/ Nasty things. But you make goats look nice, hehe.
Are the wings detailed? I can't tell at this size but I think they'd look lovely with veiny things all over them....

Once again, good work

the idea was mine, the commission was just to paint a goat in a fantasy setting. i was given a lot of freedom, which is what i love. the ferns aren't a brush, but i did duplicate some layers. and the wings have slightly detailing on them, but you can really only see them at print size, which is a shame.
glad you like it!!

Heh, that's a cute story, i never knew that about goats And it is an equally cute illustration. I could swear that goat actually has a cute little smirk on it's face.

Very sweet, I like the expression on the goat's face and the way that you have created the fern leaves

What a brilliant and whimsical idea! I always suspected there was something magical about goats, the way they look at you with their piercing yellow eyes seizing you up... This would explain it.
