Someone sent me this series under the title "Captain Haddock's Secret backstory" and it immediately became the saddest thing ;___;

I like the portrayal of this mythical creature. I've heard of selkies only through the game "Final Fantasy: Christal Chronicles".
In the game, selkies are human like creatures, having blue hair and we're supposed to originate from the sea. They might have mentioned as seals, I remember something as vague...
Though they live on land, legends have it they will one day return to the sea once more.
I suppose they weren't too far off, but it's a cool concept, and I haven't given it that much thought.
I like the couple, but I can very well understand the guilt the man must feel... poor sod.
If I we're in his steps, I think I'd just make a dicision and stick with it; when we both are very old, I may leave a letter to her to show her where her skin is, or instead not steal it at all
...Or steal it for a while...
OH!, you should make a image where she tries to pursuade the guy to tell her where her skin is!!
You can make a real strong image of that.
Anyhoo, good series, I like it
- and since your other art is pretty awesome too, I shan't be bothered I think if I watch you, so there you go

Thanks! You're definitely right, there's a full story in here, and I'm still working out the best presentation method. A series of illustrations has worked out so far, but I'd also LOOOOOVE to make an animation out of it. It would be an epic project though.
Anyway, still in the works. Thanks for your support!

Lord, I want to write a story about this. Lovely, inspiring art. I know the old selkie myths well, but you've put lovely, human faces on it. Bravo. Keep it up, I want to see if this ends like most of 'em do.
PS: If you like the Jesse James soundtrack, I would highly recommend looking up Warren Ellis' other project, the Dirty Three (if you haven't already). It's all along the same lines - achingly sad fiddle instrumentals backed up by tender drums and a guitar that ranges from a whisper to a roar. Ocean Songs might go well with this series of paintings, I think (haw). Sample:

This needs to be in book form, your work is absolutely beautiful and so full of emotion, if its not made into a animation then a childrens style book would be awesome.
Plus if you sold it in Ireland I guarantee massive success amongst tourists sales!

I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you that I am really, really enjoying the acrylishop style. You're pulling it off beautifully (also, the cableknit sweater he wears never ceases to impress me - I can never figure out how to do knits). This also happens to be one of the classiest, most endearing Selkie stories I've seen, and I really appreciate you posting it : )

I was listening to that song you requested from the last entry, it goes so terribly well with the whole story while reading it all, neither happy nor sad, just seems the characters never can keep the same emotion. their either one or the other, their never seems to be a resolution or equality in emotion. Hope that made sense.
I think i will finish that selkie and wolf sculpture i was going to finish. I'm excited for the end of the story, god i love this song!

Beautiful story. <3 Perhaps you should put these descriptions in the artist's comments of each picture, with a link to previous picture, next picture, and first picture. It would probably be easier for people to understand the story, know what comes first, etc.

I read a really wonderful book that had to do with a Selkie. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was called.
I just wanted to let you know that this a most wonderful series you have here. The last one really moved me, while others made me smile. Keep up the good work!
