Description

Hello!

It's back...

July is

WORLD WATERCOLOR MONTH

31 watercolors in 31 days

Maybe you took part in it the previous year, maybe it's the first time you hear about it. You don't need to worry. We have all the information you need to survive the July.

"So what do I have to do?"
Just paint each day in July a watercolor painting and tag it with #WorldWatercolorMonth
and of course don't forget to submit it to our group.

On July 1st we will again open our World Watercolor Month folder.

Any member of watercolorists can submit one artwork created with watercolor daily to the "World Watercolor Month" folder, in addition to the normal limit of one artwork per day.

Normal rules apply, and your work must be tagged with #WorldWatercolorMonth to be accepted into this folder.

"But I don't know what to paint for 31 days!"
No worries, there's an official prompt list which you can use.
Or you can make your own.

More info about it on the official world watercolor month website:

Well
This challenge isn't our "invention", from the group watercolorists
We just shared the info and also made a folder dedicated to this challenge in case people take part in it and want to submit it to our gallery.

Everyone can take part in it as he/she wishes. Some will make only 1 per week, some finish only half way etc.

The challenge is more for you, to improve your watercolor skills and grow as an artist.

I'm also very behind with the challenge, but what ever. I try to continue and not give up

So if you wish, you can join the challenge any time...even in the last week.

I really love the idea of this challenge and just finished my first entry, even though it's just a mini landscape.

Thanks for giving me motivation!

I can't wait to be productive +_+

Really?
You know that WWM takes place for 31 days straight ...so you will have a lot of paintings to look at.
For the time being...check out what we got the previous years:

What's a primary palette??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TokyoMoonlight In reply to itsmywatercolorheart [2019-06-27 17:58:13 +0000 UTC]

I think they mean that you create an artwork where you use just the 3 primary colors yellow, blue and red.

darianpereira [2019-06-26 02:39:20 +0000 UTC]

Using inks as watercolors is fine? Thank you for sharing info about the challenge!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TokyoMoonlight In reply to darianpereira [2019-06-27 17:57:29 +0000 UTC]

Ink? Good question.
Let me think...

The ink has it's own month, Inktober in October. And the month July is dedicated to watercolors.

So it's a yes and no. To take part in WWM the goal is to make a watercolor painting each day and get better with watercolors. But as with every challenge some variations come out of it. No one can tell you to not use inks, but since it's a month dedicated to watercolor, it would be better and would make more sense to use watercolor.

darianpereira In reply to TokyoMoonlight [2019-06-29 03:06:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's good to know..thank you for the awesome response!

I have yet to see Inktober pieces that are done in a painterly fashion like watercolor paintings

RiEile [2019-06-25 17:07:28 +0000 UTC]

31 pieces per month is not my cup of tea: first, even with small and quick things, I prefer looking at them at least on two separate days to spot mistakes, second, I do occasionally work 12+ hours a day.
However, I have been doing a daily drawing challenge recently, but a far less demanding one: I copy body parts from an anatomy for artists textbook to practice.

TokyoMoonlight In reply to RiEile [2019-06-25 20:58:15 +0000 UTC]

wow, you always keep on amazing me.
That drawing thing sounds amazing.
Something I suck at...just keep being stuck on the pc for 24 hours.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RiEile In reply to TokyoMoonlight [2019-06-26 17:03:32 +0000 UTC]

I did 2/3 of the book and lost regularity: first a conference, but then it is very hard to keep up while having to paint real stuff.

TokyoMoonlight In reply to RiEile [2019-06-27 19:37:05 +0000 UTC]

But at least you are active.
Each drawing / sketch / painting you do is better than 0.

FreeSpirit29 [2019-06-25 11:02:52 +0000 UTC]

Sounds good. I reckon that i could do a paint different coloured horses each day.

I don't know why, but this made me think of My little pony...so many colors

FreeSpirit29 In reply to TokyoMoonlight [2019-06-27 06:37:25 +0000 UTC]

That,s okay.

I was thinking of real horse colours and patterns. The sat thing is that i haven't got my watercolours with me.

Never heard of it, but I would love to take part. Unfortunately, I've got many other things to do in july. I guess it will turn out like Inktober did last year: just three drawings   but I'll try ....

TokyoMoonlight In reply to Art-JS [2019-06-25 16:22:48 +0000 UTC]

Inkotber...me too. The previous year 2017 I barely made it, the last year 2018 was bad...6 drawings XD

World Watercolor Month 2018 Feature  Did you in July by chance use the hashtag #worldwatercolormonth?
You did?

That's great because…
The group watercolorists took part for the 2nd time in the 31 day challenge

Uhhh, looks interisting! Maybe I’ll join If I have the time. ♥️ didn’t knew about that contest.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TokyoMoonlight In reply to Laura-SaintCroix [2019-06-25 16:19:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not a contest, it's a challenge like Inktober, MerMay and so on.
It's supposed to challenge you to create a watercolor art piece each day...to help you improve your watercolor skills.
