Amazing use of blur, light and of course technique. I feel like the theme of train and movement works extremely well with your choice of medium; the streamlined form of the pencil really conveys quite the swift, dart-like shape to suit the notion of movement very nicely.
This use of form seen in both the pencil and the graphite conveys the impression that the train is moving; the use of blur reinforces this effect with the point of the train very distinct yet with its behind rather vague, as if the vehicle is moving so fast that only the front is clearly visible.
This effect is also heightened by the light, reinforcing the point of interest nearing the front of the train with its sharp, bright highlights. The form of both the pencil and train are made very clear, and, again, paired with the blur, the sense of movement appears very real.
The use of perspective heightens both the implication of movement and the impact of the image significantly; the way it engagingly scales up into the audiences perspective applies that drastic sense of covered distance, really engaging the audience as the train rushes up seemingly about to 'whoosh' past their faces.
Of course, the perspective also enlarges the pencil and graphite the closer they are, again reinforcing the sense of movement and overall adding a more dynamic apparel as oppose to a horizontal shot.
What I find really curious and very masterful about this image is how normal the scene is. If the scene was real and the train was an actual train, speeding down the tracks, the use of lighting, perspective and blur seen in this image would not be strange to apply to that scene as well.
The gimmick of the train is thus really effectively portrayed, because as far as I'm concerned that object might as well have been real and it would have been captured the same way.
This sense of realism conveys the amusing and very engaging feel of the miniature spectacularly; it's as if the entire image caters into having the audience believe the train could be real, making look realistic and beautiful in that manner, but with the very nicely positioned tunnels, we are reminded that the scene is in fact a pencil and the impact given off that bewildered realisation is unbelievably amazing.
It's just such a beautiful, engaging image that portrays the movement and speed of a train magnificently, yet it's all in an ordinary-looking object, which pushes both the intrigue and the technical fidelity of the image through the ceiling.
Again, wonderful shot utilising all the elements that one would expect from a photograph on a real train, and marvellously original idea with an even better execution. I do feel like you deserve a LOT more recognition for this!
Awesome work!
