I would love to find myself in this surrounding, just to see it in person

It's one of my more serene paintings.
It's loosely based on an area that used to be near my home. It was just an old foundation with a partial brick wall on a small hill.
There was a wooded gully below with an aqueduct leading into it.
I embellished it with my imagination over time.

It is a fantastic, mysterious world, sort of like a levitating graveyard with embellishments. A little joke there, but that is only an element in your paintings, they are so complex, with layers upon layers, not trying to get smart because Photoshop is already doing that. But there are 3 or 4 paintings in one of yours, a story within a story which is most beautiful, by my regards.

This is extraordinary James.  The details are wonderful.  Most of all there's a unifying feel to the whole work.

What a stunning and magic place!! *O*

I wish I could live there...

Tolkyes In reply to MadMonaLisa [2013-09-18 21:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It's very loosely based on a place near where I live. It was a small abandoned cement building and drainage pipe.

The place isn't there anymore except the foundation. The building itself wasn't that much to look at-very simple and generic. I made it more castle-like for the painting. It was a nice environment at night, though- especially during a full moon or in a mist.

Wow, beautiful and mysterious... I really like that purple-ish lampost thing, for some reason.

Tolkyes In reply to FeatherQuilt1988 [2013-09-14 17:26:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. The purplish thing setting atop the pillar is one of the luminorphs taking a rest.

Aha! I almost called it a "luminorph lamppost," but then I thought it was a part of it. I can see the pillar top now.

I know, thanks. Most of my paintings are places that are meant to be explored and I wish actually existed.

Tolkyes In reply to CanelaRose [2013-09-14 17:23:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It's monotone for the most part but with some variety in color as accents.

I'm really attracted to blues and greens, so that is probably why I like that color scheme!
