Yes the cathedral is quite bright and airy in places, other parts are dark and gloomy, our churches all used to be very bright with paintings adorning the walls then puritanical folk came and whitewashed the walls, near me is an old church where they are uncovering some of the ancient paintings...I will go get some pics soon;O)

In my city we also have beautiful gothic cathedral, but it's not as light and bright as you have in Peterborough
