I wanted to add a new element into my pieces and I thought to myself... why not birds? This was so challenging as I ended up painting so many little details of the bird. It's the Scarlet Ibis, which I adore! I wanted it to complement her hair so I think the two work well together. A little fun fact is that my godfather creates illustrations of birds for encylopedias and is a wildlife photographer. Unfortunately his work is nowhere to be found online, he creates these hyperrealistic drawings of birds and they blew my mind, he might have had a lot to do with me ending up doing something creative later in life. I guess this piece was somewhat inspired by his work but the bird I painted is defintiely nowhere as good as he could achieve!
