No. 125 Electabuzz -- Okay, long paragraph incoming. Electabuzz travels a road in Generation I not taken by any Pokemon of my acquaintance. Had you asked me every year from five to eighteen years ago what five, or even three of my least favorite Pokemon in the Kanto region were, chances are Electabuzz would have made the list every single time. I found it so non-compelling and hideous, as well as down-right unimaginative. I couldn't stand to even look at its monstrous unibrow. What a beastly Pokemon, and don't even get me started on its Pokemon Stadium animations. However, when I captured one in the Power Plant of Red Version on a file four years old, I was struck with a revelation, that I played Pokemon Blue as a kid primarily, and as a result never really had the opportunity to even give this Pokemon a go. With an incomplete team, I checked it into slot five and gave it a go.

Short story, Electabuzz went from my potentially least favorite Kanto Pokemon to vying for one of my favorites. And while it may have started with taking advantage of its fun Special stat in Gen I with moves like Psychic, everything I hated about it reversed. It's compelling AND hideous, and unimaginative for all the right reasons. It's a generic beast, based on an Oni, and in my opinion it really expressed the fundamentals of what a Gen I Pokemon design excels at. What a beastly Pokemon! And don't even get me started on its Pokemon Stadium animations! Golly. Electabuzz ended up being my first permanent team member on this Red run, and I intend to use it all the more in the future.

I'm always searching for projects to get me inspired, because I'm so bad at finishing things at all, let alone at a timely pace.

So when Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow were released to the eShop in February of this year, I challenged myself. I told myself that I would draw every Pokemon I caught in the game as if I were filling out a Pokedex myself, much to the style of Tracey Sketchit.

While I stopped after about ten or so drawings because of the output of caught Pokemon, I kept a list, and I intend to finish it. So here's the scoop:

-Every Pokemon will be submitted in the order in which I obtained them in the game--Though I have some finished artwork of some, they come much later, and as a result shall not be submitted until their appropriate times.

-The designs are more reflective of their original Red version sprites, but coloration is partially influenced by their current appearances.

-Each is a simple drawing, inking, and water color wash--No less than 15 minutes, and no more than an hour per Pokemon.
