Thanks, it makes me really happy to know someone notices stuff like that! It's mostly done intuitively, just to make the picture less boring, but anyway I'm glad there are people who appreciate these little things.

Proper proportions and shading/lighting are two concepts that perpetually elude me but you manage expertly; I find it hard to believe someone could see such things as intuitive (it feels like there should be some trick or a standard rule of thumb to use), although I recognize the years or even decades needed to get to that skill level

On that subject, I really like the focus you place on lighting in your works; in Flutterbat I feel you took that concept to a whole other level.  The semi-transparent hair, ears and wing work incredibly well with the dim/contrasting pink-blue lighting to make a really unique work.  Using one light source to create another color is not something I think I've ever seen done artistically - it's a cool concept .
