This is a striking picture; especially of a fly! In fact so much so, that I can safely say that I very rarely ever see flies portrayed in such a favorable light. Literally.

Flies are, by their very nature and looks, gloomy and dirty creatures, a habitat for millions of bacteria (per fly), living on and from materials left by others. That makes flies hard to like for a lot of people.

This picture, however, shows another aspect of a fly. A quite complex creature for its size, facets of colors and with a certain beauty even. Your choice of surroundings compliment this very well and the detail you captured is quite frankly marvelous. It's not the extremest close-up I have ever seen of a fly, but I think this is just right.

The picture screams "life" by its colors and composition. The only way this could possibly be improved is if the fly was completely in focus (via a stack of differently focused images), but saying that, I personally like this just fine!

This is a truly stunning photo, no matter what size you see it from. I was wow'd right on impact. It truly is eye catching, particularly with the bright colours you used. I love the colours, and I'm glad they weren't dimmed down or made 'too' colourful. The fly makes a lovely contrast against what I am assuming is a leaf. The amount of focus you got on this photo is unbelievable. I don't think I've ever seen a fly in this much high definition before! I also appreciate how some of the leaf is in focus in front of the fly, giving him a place to "move," so to speak.
Just to give at least one piece of constructive criticism, I am wondering how the photo would look if the fly was slightly lower within the frame. Okay, that's not exactly criticism, more of a curiousity.
This is an amazing photo, great work! I didn't think I could ever like a photo of a pesky fly so much.

Great shot!
I would've use a different composition for it, however, moving the fly down the shot a bit, or cutting of the bottom part of the photo, to leave a different, more panoramic, view altogether, but that probably more of a choice, than anything else.
I am wondering, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of light source did you use? I simple diffused flash or something a little more intricate, like a polarized flash? The lack of harsh highlights would suggest that it's the latter, however I have seen similar lighting in shots, that were all natural light only, so i'm confused now

Detail is everything, amazing photo. Really, it's absolutely beautiful! I love photographs of small objects that many seem to ignore. But there can be a vast amount of beauty in tiny objects
