Description
This was a small packet (4 pages) of sketches I created at the beginning of my job as Head of Character Design for the TV show I'm working on for CBN, called "Superbook". We already had a "anime influenced" style to the show, but the CG modelers were not making very unique, stylized hands. They were making real hands, which looked odd. Worse, they were the same hands no matter male or female, young or old, fat or thin characters. Anyway, thought you all would want to see this.Related content

Thanks for the upload! In school I was always trying to improve my hands (my instructors were too lol) and I'm still trying to get them to look better of course. The baby hands make me giggle with joy :>

Pretty neat! Though I think the boy/girl hands are still a bit too angular and long to fit a child's body.

I totally get this. Nothing like trying to sell different personalities or roles when the characters have the exact same body type. You see stuff like this in shows like Winx, or those "idol" or "harem" animes where the only differences between characters seem to be their hairstyle and voice actor.

Strange that they themselves wouldn't take advantage of the range of shapes, forms, and personalities at hand here (no pun intended). Hands are one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of the body, I think. There's such a variety of them. Thanks for showing your sketches here! Very cool stuff.

i never even thought to consider that the hand curves inward, i mean i knew that when drawing the human body not to use straight lines cause no part of the human body is straight everything has a curve, even if its small, but i didnt notice the hands curves do that, this helped greatly.
