Indeed they are, they are floating "lanes" used to get out to the timber floating downstream south to different sawmills.
From these floating lanes they could also reach small floating "cabins" they could have a rest and get back the warmth in the body during cold weather..
Today the place is a museum, and the rather large area maintained by enthusiasts keeping it fresh and tidy.
I find myself returning to this place again and again..

I'm stuck back in time, I'm imagining the hectic activity that was going on here from the opening in 1865 to it was closed down in 1985.
It's the one and only facility in it's kind that is kept as it was in Norway.
