It comes as a surprise to all of us that Charles Martinet, who has been the voice of the Mario Bros for around 30 years now, is retiring from his role. He'll still be representing the characters, but just no longer voicing them in the games. I have to admit I kinda saw this coming. Some of the characters he originally voiced sounded a bit different in the June 2023 Direct game trailers, as if they had already recast him by that point. On a more positive note, I find it fitting that presumably his final performance in a Mario project was in this year's Mario movie. That is undeniably a high note for him to end on. Charles Martinet, thank you for voicing our favourite plumbers for so long, and enjoy your retirement!
