I stepped out of a small house outside of a village. Even though it was small, we were of of the most advanced towns in the land. And I was well known in the village due to my father being one of the leading inventors around. I guess I should say my name. Is Miriam Derances. I'm a 14 year old girl who pretty much loves to invent. And I guess I should mention why I love to invent so much.

It started when I was a young girl, there was a major explosion in the nearby factory, and Father and I just happened to be there. And I ended up getting stuck in all the rubble. And it took an agonizing 2 days to be found. It was a miracle that I'm alive. But my arm ended up being replaced by a fake. And because of that I swore that I would devote my life's reserch to help the cause. And whats the cause? To create a peaceful, intellegent world where people can be happy.

"A new day, more work."

Many people might take that was a complaint, and MANY people do. But my father understands. He knows why I'm working more, and why I want to.

Suddenly a shout came behind me. "Miriam, come help me out for a minute!"

"Yes Sir!"

A normal one of my father's calls. He might be wise, but still needs help from his daughter. I entered back into the house. I walked past my brother. I don't want to see him messing with one of our inventions, otherwise I'LL get in trouble.

His name is William. He's two years younger than me. And he was born mute. But I guess I enjoy it a little cause I can tell that he would blabber alot. Well, he screams alot as it is, if he could talk that would be horrible... But hes my brother, and I love him.

I walked down the hall, looking at the picture of my mother before the accident. I walked into a door on my right, that lead down into the basement. I peeked my head around the stairs to see what he was doing. A normal one of his contraptions. But it somehow looked special. But thats just me.
