Terezi and I laid by each other in a room. They were all tired from the game. Witnessing the deaths of their friends, their entire race being wiped out, and that they were only kids.

Terezi put her head on my back, and closed her eyes.

"WHY TH1S?"

"WHY WHAT?"

Terezi sat up, and leaned forward, grabbing her cane.

"W3 W3R3 JUST NORM4L TROLLS GO1NG TO FOLLOW 4 NORM4L L1FE"

She was a strong person, partially due to the fact she was a sociopath. But even freaks have their limit. She found the body of a girl who had a crush on me, and the boy whom she protected, witnessed the death of a human boy who she came to know and like, also saw the death of her lusus and killed her friend and formal roleplaying partner. She probably felt more pain then most of us combined.

"MAYBE IT WAS JUST ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE COULDN'T CONTROL." I said that trying to comfort her, but I myself didn't know what I was saying. I rested my head on her shoulder and rested my hand on her leg.

I was about to say something, until I heard a sniff. Terezi was sobbing.

"H3H3H…" She put her hand where I layed mine. "1M TRULY A SH4M3 4RNT 1?"

She was dead staring at me, smiling, showing her teeth at my, with teal tears running down her cheeks. I think she had finally lost it.

I hugged her and brushed my fingers through her hair. She gave a small giggle and moved my hand away. She slipped over me and gave me a light kiss on the cheek. She went back and rolled on the floor.

"1 W1SH 1 COULD H4V3 STOPP3D J4CK. TH3N M4YB3 NON3 OF TH1S COULD H4V3 H4PP3N3D…."

"DON'T SAY THAT."

I made her sit up and I hugged her.

"I HAVN'T EVER PROMISED ANYTHING BEFORE. MAYBE I'LL DO THAT NOW." I looked at her in the eyes. "I WONT LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO US," I hugged her more "I SWEAR. NOT YOU YOU, ME, GAMZEE, SOLLUX… EVERYONE."

"1TS OKAY. 1 KNOW YOULL DO TH4T. 4FT3R 4LL. YOUR OUR F34RL3SS L34DER R1GHT?"

"MAYBE."

Terezi pulled me over her, causing me to almost fall on her.

"PROM1S3 M3." She hugged me. "YOULL K33P US S4F3 YOU 4SSHOL3."

"YEAH. I PROMISE."

I don't think I can keep that promise. And I don't think she thinks so either.

But then again, aren't most promises like that?
