Description So, as I haven't been doing any vector art lately I decided to take a scene from one of my facourite old time adventure games, Day Of the Tentacle, and redo it in vector graphics. In this scene you see one of the three main characters, a nerd Bernard. The man in the mask is just a carjacker, a part of a puzzle. In the background there's dead cousin Ted and the mansion of the Edison clan.

Day of the Tentacle is a game published by LucasArts way back in the 90's.

Fully done in Inkscape

Haha, great idea, great execution, great game! Would be cool to remake the whole game in vector, but I don't think we could hope for LucasArts to agree with such a fan project...

I read some time ago, that there actually WAS a remake project of DOTT around inside Lucas before it was sold to Disney. But sadly enough they weren't able to convince the regime of Lucasfilm of the viability of such project. As far I know they did do at least a proto of the remake., but as it was an internal project no other info of it has surfaced.

Wow, I didn't know that! Yeah, adventure games are having a hard time in general nowadays, I don't quite understand why. It's one of my favourite genres, so I come back to the classics quite often which isn't too bad either

Still, I imagine that making a graphical remake the way you did on one's own as a fan project would even be much more interesting than something ready-made from LucasArts!

I did stumble upon this recently: www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/…
From the looks of it they do have a pretty similar idea on the graphical style as I do.

Ah yes, indeed! Though it's a pity that they didn't use a real vector program and instead there is this visible, unclean Flash style

Now that Double Fine is doing the official remaster/remake of DOTT, it'll be interesting to see how it will turn out. They are apparently working from the project that was abandoned short before Lucas was sold to Disney.

They are? That's great, I haven't heard about that, thanks for spreading the news! Cool that this abandoned project will find its use in the end

Beats me. The art style DOTT has is detailed and it would be relatively easy to re-produce in higher quality if the original BG art is lost. But I guess only high resolution remakes we'll ever see from old Lucas games are MI and MI2.

As a fan of "Day of the Tentacle" and Inkscape, it would just be WRONG if I didn't fave this. It goes without saying that I happen to think it is excellent work, as well!
