how I digital coloured guys, howSeriously though, I tried following a few tutorials by argrim (also fuck whoever decided to have him suspended from dA, seriously) and it just really, really shows how inept I am with digital. Or everything, really.
And now Sai's developed input lag. God dammit.

the overall idea is there but black itself is a bit hard to practice with due to lack of room for colors so try again with a brighter one and most likely be easier to blend with.

Yeah, black's a fucking awkward colour to use, hence why I used shades of grey for the basecoat (I'm used to doing that with more traditional media, you see), and as you can see the results were... a bit mixed. Still, I wanted to get in on the ground floor with this guy, considering how amazing the source material looked already.
How do you feel about using the airbrush for highlights on the luminosity layer? I gave it a try here and I quite liked how it turned out, but since your regular style seems a bit more akin to cel-shaded stuff I dunno if you'd ever given it a try.

I'm surprised that I can translate the title "The Black Cat In Colour" even without knowing the language. Usually I can only get a word here and there.

I'm no good at French either, this was just the result of some cheating with Google Translate. I figured it'd fit given he's from an upcoming French show.
