They are a Tiff file, to get rid of the background follow these steps;
Click on the selection tool in Photoshop and right click anywhere on the image, then click on "Load Selection" after it's selected the background, "Select Inverse" then press "Ctrl+J" then that would duplicate that selection, but make sure you have the C4d selected, not the background.
