This is a sweet picture. I like how Unicron is looking down at "us", imposing his menace and malice upon us. The dark shadows on him make him feel even more massive as well. It's just...wow. Do not meddle in the affairs of Unicron...for your planet is crunchy and tastes good with energon-ketchup.

In a word, this just looks... wow. Like others have noted, the use of perspective and the background make t his look fantastic. I think the only thing I could really complain about, and this is a minor nitpick, is the fact that his wings look a touch too skinny, but I'd wager that could also be because of the perspective. I think a bit of glow in his eyes like there is in his stomach and chest might have helped too. Regardless, this is a spectacular looking piece.

Indeed, the wing are a little skinny because of the perspective... We have to keep in mind that this guy is the size of a small planet
As for the glow in the eyes, chest and belly, me and my friend who did most of this coloration decided that more glow, would kill too much of the details around theses areas.

Ah, I see. I think a just touch in the eyes probably wouldn't have killed it, though, since they appear to be glowing white as opposed to his trademark green. (or red or purple, depending on the series) But like you said, too much glow might have been for the worse.

after all there are millions of ways to represent anything, i chose this one 
For the face to have more glow, i would have to darken the rest of the face probably... giving him a clichΓ© mysterious evil feel :-P

Well the cosmos background helps too. Because that perspective also works on 'smaller' TFs like Optimus from a human POV.

YES, very true.
The first version of the coloration my friend did for me did not have the cosmos background. It had a foggy gray sky instead, it looked cool, but did not fit whit what Unicron is suppose to be.
So she gave me her PSD and I putted this background and adjusted the coloration to fit
