Description It may look cold, but actually there wasn´t that cold. Maybe -10 C°?
Anyway, this needed 10 second shutter speed.
I did not edit this in anyway, except cropped a bit.
Can somebody tell me, why the lights are like 'moving'?
I didn´t shake the camera, it was on tripod and you can see by yourself that this isn´t shaked, expect the lights.
I hope you understood what I meant.

Just stopping by to say thanks and to let you know that this has been featured in my journal! [link]

Very cozy looking house there. Nice shot overall, even with the light movement lol. Almost looks like it could be a christmas card or something

My mom said that too, that this could be a christmas card.
Thanks for the compliment.

Very strange effect, Toni. I have no idea. Did anyone come up with a reasonable answer yet? Maybe there was some movement, maybe hitting the tripod, but only the lights show it, because they are much brighter. Hm... not very convincing.

I got the answer. It is caused by the long exposure and moving air.
The air moves and so the way the camera lens "percieves" the movement of the light coming through the air.

Wow, that is hard to believe in my opinion.

Kiitos.
Minullekkin tuli joulu mieleen, kun mietin että tuostahan voi ottaa kuvan.

PS I meant the city lights, not the auroras; the auroras of course are blurry because they do move.

Great
This reminds me of photos of auroras, if you look at all of them, and there are city lights in the distance, for example, you'll see that all of them appear moved or even blurred in a quite ugly way, because of this. Auroras need long exposure and they happen in winter: the wind speed, the temperature of the wind and the distance to the lights are determinant in the way that the lights appear like this.
Lovely gallery by the way!

The long exposure, that's why, it happens a lot with lights even if you're using a tripod and the camera doesn't move. It's because of the atmosphere, the air moves and so the way the camera lens "percieves" the movement of the light coming through the air, so to speak, is printed forever on the photo.

Ahaa, thank you for telling.
I knew that long exposure had something to do with that.

Rupesin myös ihmettelemään, että hetkinen, miksi noi valot liikkuu. Erikoinen efekti eikä tuu kyllä yhtään mieleen, mistä voisi johtua! Kivat sävyt.
