You're welcome! I know nothing about flickr. I had to post photographs there when i was in school, then promptly forgot about it when the class was over. I like deviantART a lot. It's a great artists' community!

I think that I am just used to flickr but it seems a lot easier to navigate, Finding the style or the kind of art one likes seems faster. There is a lot of photography, for the most part it is more of a photography site rather than an art site and the community I think id older. This is only really my second day here so with all honesty I can not say whether one is better than the other.

I have noticed that there are a lot of younger users on DA. Having just acquired a two year degree, i am used to being around people younger than myself. The vast majority of the art is not my style, but that is one of the reasons for deiviantART. The story that i have heard is that DA was started for those of us that are not considered artists by the Fine Art community. For some reason, after World War II, a line was drawn between the fine artist and those who are illustrators and commercial artists. And it has gotten to where many fine artists regard others as those who produce work without merit or soul. So deviantART, i have been told, was created for those who are "deviant" from the fine arts community. Being a representational artist that paints for money, i fit right in!
