Description

Here is a sketch art card of Durga from Hindu Mythology that I drew for the Classic Mythology trading card set produced by me & my wife Elaine (Perna Studios) - Sketch card measures 2.5" x 3.5".

Durga - Hindu Mythology – Durga is a form of Devi (meaning Goddess), the supremely radiant goddess, depicted as having eight arms, riding a lion or a tiger, carrying weapons and a lotus flower, maintaining a meditative smile, and practicing mudras, or symbolic hand gestures. The word Shakti means divine feminine; energy/force/power, and Durga is the warrior aspect of the Divine Mother. As a goddess, Durga's feminine power contains the combined energies of all the gods. Each of her weapons was given to her by various gods: Rudra's trident, Vishnu's discus, Indra's thunderbolt, Brahma's kamandalu, Kuber's Ratnahar, etc.

Just being a little nitpicky but seeing as how the worship of Durga mata ji is still actively practised by millions of people world wide kindly change this 'Durga was a form of Devi' to 'Durga is a form of Devi'?

Also, absolutely beautiful artwork. You are amazingly skilled and the depiction of Durga mata ji is beautiful.

Thank you! It is a beautiful picture and true to the scriptural references of her which describe her with golden skin. I look forward to seeing more in the series!
