Ok, this might be a bit rough, but I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't think you were worth the effort.

The first thing that stands out from this image is your age. Don't take this wrong, but you're a bit old to be a student. I can totally see you in a Snape/Lockhart/Lupin style costume.

I LOVE the enthusiasm you obviously have for this subject matter, I too am a Harry Potter geek, and hope that part of me never dies, 'cause it's damned fun!

The second thing that doesn't work here is the background. Two reasons for this: First you are on a different plane from your background. One of the hardest parts of stiching images together is making sure your planes line up. Try taking a shot of yourself straight on and put it into a shot of a room from above and you'll see what I'm talking about. It'll look like you're laying on the ground. One great way around this problem is to use a background that's so far away you can't tell if they line up or not. lol

The VERY hardest part of stiching pics together (and the other thing that's wrong with this image) is getting your light sources to line up. Here your face and body are lit from slightly to your right (your right as you were posing, not viewing the image.) This lighting is great! It could use a bit more brightness, but I think you were trying to make it feel like you were in the shade of these trees. The problem with this is that in the background you can see that the light (sun) is actually on your left.

To get past these problems, you can try either working your butt off trying to match these angles up better, learning to use the available light outside, or, if you're using studio lights, investing in some LONG extention cords so you can mix the available light with your studio lighting.

So, there's the mean nasty ugly part of the critique, here's the good part!

The composition on this shot is great (if it weren't I'd have never opened it). The pose and placement in this photo lend a real cinematic feel. You are totally on the right track here. Your sense of composition makes this feel like a frame straight out of the HP movies.

You have the "feel," you just need to learn some more technique!

Overall: Great Job!

I hope you find my suggestions useful!

Pff, who cares about your age? Even I'm still waiting for my Hogwarts letter.. Perhaps the owls can't fly across the ocean too well..
