Description
This is Jacana von Starling. I borrowed the name from the Avian Escapade (an adventure I got from DMs Guild). I was looking for Casino Heist adventures to help me flesh out the Stygian Gambit from Keys of the Golden Vault. Although I didn't use much from the Avian Escapade, I did swipe the name for a venture capitalist family member who help Togglepocket finance his casino (in addition to the money he stole that is the basis for the adventure).

Anyway, The Avian Escapade is an adventure where literally every NPC has a bird pun name (and not a single avariel or aaracockra or even aasimar amongst them!) So, I made von Starling a Strix (from Pathfinder) though her family is a bit more space farer/cosmopolitan and less human-hating (after all.. humans have money to spend too!). She didn't do much, and wasn't going to do much, but the events of the adventure and the PCs actions have resulted in me needing to make Jacana an actual adversary with some class levels. So, That also spurred me into drawing her. I made the Strix to the Drow as the Avariel are to the Elves.

torso and arm pose comes from Michael Turner's version of Dawnstar, wings are from another drawing I did, but are ultimately very much based on a downbeat drawing Alan Davis did of Hawkgirl in "the Nail".
