One of my favorite playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is gotta be Meta Knight.I've played the game since the day it came out, and I gotta say; it's freakin' awesome!
What was actually pretty cool was that the game came with a white cap written Wii on it. 
It reminds me when I was playing Kirby Super Star on the SNES; there was a mode in the game where you had to destroy Meta knight's flying ship, and then afterward you had to defeat him. I always thought he was a tricky sword fighter, I mean that's why he was so hard to defeat in this game.
His bat wings are pretty useful, after all he is pretty useful as a playable character, but that doesn't mean the rest of the characters are useless.

Almost every time I play this game with my sis, I use Meta Knight, Mr. Game-and-Watch or Olimar. But I use Meta Knight most because his bat wings are not only useful, but also I'm good at using him and because he's just awesome.
(Sis almost always uses Pit 'cause she's good at using him and his wings are pretty useful too.)

Trust me, it's awesome. You're gonna love the gameplay and the different modes in brawl and solo, especially the subspace emissary; I loved that.
For the characters... Well it's up to you to think if it was a good selection of characters or not.
I'm sure you're gonna enjoy this game as well as I am.

I absolutely love the character selection. It some of my favorite video game characters ever: Sonic, Snake, Wario, ect. I don't really know how good their move set is, but the fact that they're there is good enough for me!
